Official | Bochum sign Bayern Munich U19 talent Moritz Göttlicher

VfL Bochum have officially confirmed the capture of midfielder Moritz Göttlicher from the Bayern U19s. Bayern themselves finalized two 2. Bundesliga loan outs for Bayern Campus prospects yesterday. In this case, however, Göttlicher will be departing the German record champions permanently.

Göttlicher played alongside Lennart Karl

Unlike his more famous former Bayern U17 teammates such as Wisdom Mike and Lennart Karl, Göttlicher has not made the leap to the professional level yet. Bochum nevertheless remain sufficiently impressed enough to pay Bayern a modest transfer fee and tie Göttlicher down to a long term contract.

Göttlicher – who has scored five goals and registered two assists in 11 appearances across all competitions for the FCB U19s this year – inks a new deal that will keep him at the Revierklub through 2031. Göttlicher’s new working papers count as the longest current contract of any 2. Bundesliga player.

Moritz Göttlicher’s signing statement

When I heard about VfL’s interest, I was very happy because I realized that young players get playing time here in Bochu,” Göttlicher noted in a statement posted on Bochum’s website. “I think this is the right step to take to get into professional football and it’s great that it worked out so quickly. I’m very happy to be here.
