Jeremy Jacquet prefers Premier League move amid Chelsea, Liverpool links

Chelsea and Liverpool have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Real Madrid defensive target Jeremy Jacquet.

Following his sensational rise at Stade Rennais, Jeremy Jacquet’s future has become a massive talking point. Clubs from across Europe are keen on signing the young centre-back. Chelsea, Real Madrid and Liverpool are some of the biggest suitors for him.

According to a report from Fichajes, the French youth international prefers moving to the Premier League, which means Chelsea and Liverpool are certainly better placed than Real Madrid.

Jacquet has come up the ranks at the French club. He got promoted to their first team at the start of 2024 and then spent a year on loan at Clermont Foot. Following his impressive spell away from the club, he finally got integrated into Rennes’ first team.

The 20-year-old has only gone from strength to strength since and has established himself as one of the best young defenders in the world. While he is an integral part of the Ligue 1 club and his new contract runs until the summer of 2029, he looks very likely to join a bigger club ahead of next season.

Real Madrid are behind Liverpool and Chelsea

Real Madrid are one of the clubs that are keen on signing the French youth international. With David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger’s contracts running down, Los Blancos are looking for a young central defender to freshen things up at the back. Jacquet is seen as an ideal fit for their project.

While the Spanish giants are keen on his signature, they will face stiff competition from Chelsea and Liverpool. Both clubs have been closely monitoring the young centre-back, who has a strong physical presence and has shown maturity beyond his years.

The player seems to have his heart set on a move to the Premier League. He wants to compete in the best league in the world, where he will not only get a strong financial package but will also get a lot of traction. Even Fabrizio Romano has suggested Real Madrid’s chances of signing him have gone down.

With his contract running until 2029, Rennes want around €30 million to sanction his departure. While the price tag is not a problem for any of the clubs, Real Madrid seem to be playing catch-up at this stage.
